I thought the one blip - the penalty against Buckley for going down that Pienaar shanked into the Cathedral carpark - was a joke. Court didn't take the hit and should have been adjudicated against.

No excuse not to put Loughs on the bench in NZ instead of court.

I would put the blame with Swifty moreso. He came to the ruck, started looking both sides and moved off into the openside. Young lads are always having it put to them how important ruck defense is, especially on your own line, you wouldn't see Munster teams (of old anyways) making that mistake. O'Halloran had to come in off his wing to try and stop Marshall sniping in, but could do very little and was also leaving his opposite man free by committing to moving in.

Although Adrian Flavin's name appeared on the big screen before the match (spelt Adrin), a last minute announcement was made that he had been replaced by Dermot Murphy so must have injured himself in warm-up even though I can't say 100% that I saw him during warm-up.
I guess with the game result still not certain for the full 80 minutes, it wasn't a day to be throwing Murphy on...

Flavs mentioned same on Twitter (only way to stay in the game folks.. ).

Cannot express enough how pleased I am for all the lads, some top individual performances on Saturday and the collective performance was unflinching (if at times the enthusiam getting the better of shrewdness).

The UP's - :cheer:

George was outstanding again on Saturday very nearly back to his absolute best, but for me MOM should have gone to Miah who was just exceptional he's looking the player we wished him to be for a long time now. Absolutely thrilled for the guy, what with all the messing around at 10 over the last three seasons and recent injury and the annoucment of Parks imminent arrival. Great outing for him epitomised by his try, got the ball, drifted to make some space and bang, in there like a ferrett! Outstanding!

What a warrior JO'C is, no such thing as easing himself back in...
Really, really, really hope though that Ray is OK for next week. Terrible if he isn't able to pull on the green jersey in front of the last home crowd of the season...

Mul's carry and reverse flip offload to Tiernan, the big hand by Tiernan on no less than the Ulster messiah Ruan Pienaar to score a great, great try.

The Crowd - Immense, only get to watch on TV but you'd swear there was 50,000 not 5,000... :woohoo:

The Down's -

The injuries - particualrly Ray's. Badly timed if this turns out to be his last game in Galway.

Discipline - we kept them in the game when we were absolutely dominating by being rash on occasions. There's mmore than enough experience out there to have ensured that everyone.

Swifty has been around long enough to know that even if someone's grabbing your town halls and you start swinging, you're going to get yellow (if you're lucky).

Defensively everyone worked hard, but Murphy takes a rap across the knuckles for the Marshall try. Completely M.I.A. defensively...

This shouldn't be a down, but it is. Every game that I see Fa'Filli play since Christmas screams "One More Year". Can a Clan member bump off a rich elderly realtive please..?

The Ref, Dudley the Dud. - :pinch:

(1) The no touchdown try by Jackson he awarded without referring to 4th Official is absolutely criminal in a Televised game. I don't care about his position, he could not have seen the ball grounded (because it patently was not).

(2) The scrums, don't just fecking guess you muppet. Both Wilko and Denis (bar one blip) were all over Tom Court, he could not get his power going becasue they are both shorter and he kept dropping his bind and folding in. Just penalising alternatively because one Prop is an international is the action of a coward or someone ill equipped to manage a rugby match.

(3) Not taking a card to Ulster earlier in the game when we were dominating and they were repeatedly going off their feet at the rucks and not making any effort to move away from the ball. What the hell, this is proffesional sport if you cannot get the basics right you have no right to officiate.

I can't disagree more ummm .Because the control of his leg was taken away from him,he was hopping on one leg and was in danger of the maul collapsing on him in a dangerous manner. If it was the other way around ,maybe you as opposed to we ,would have been shouting for a red.I look at it realistically (not saying you don't) with a bit of bias but not too much .Loughney took a chance with a shoulder and deserved the yellow and i've no problem saying it when its deserved .This discussion has been had before re:professional fouls etc .When your foul entails causing danger to someone else, man up, take your dig and you'll be in a better position to decide if you want to do it again.

Excellent win.

Swift Yellow- Crazy !! If a Maul is formed and someone intentionally grabs one of your legs and keeps it off the ground ,than surely you should be allowed inflict a couple of digs in order to encourage your opposite number to let go of your leg and not do it again !!!! To make it worse ,the ref had a perfect view .PC Bollox .

Frank -Other than the messed up lineout on our own 5 meter ,where he seemed like a Hare with a torch on him, thought he had a good game .Personally would have him way in front of P O'D.

Georgeie -If the wife agrees to leave me and he was such a way inclined ,i'd marry him in the morning.

Jackson try - Whilst the grounding for Duffy's try wasn't so clear ,really don't know how the ref didn't go upstairs for jacksons.Again ref was on the spot ,but i can't se how it could have been such a quick decsiion for him to award the try.

Couple of strange decisions on 75 minutes about how to close out the game and a few errors here and there, but overall well frickin done lads .

I gotta say I can't wait to see George next year after he gets a proper preseason. Those Japanese must have been crazy not to play him!

On the Faloon thing you guys are right he was quiet enough but so were all the Ulster back row.
He has not been getting a lot of game time either and with so many changes in their team things might not have been clicking for them.
George has returned to the form we remember him for.
He was fantastic again. What a great move getting him back.

GD, He's the best linking openside in the country, I'll agree he was poor, but Diack and McComish did SFA in the game, McComish had a lot of bluster with very little positives and Diack was anonymous.

If you watch it on TV, you'll hear the ref roaring "white 7, white 7" on a lot of occasions

I'll have to have another look at it and maybe pay closer attention to him, On first viewing McComish seemed their most active back row.

Shows up the worry at hooker for next season. At this level its a position you need two good players and a capable third choice. One injury and you're in serious trouble. Its not like other areas (like back row) where we have lads on development deals or in academy for a few years and are capable of doing a job if necessary. I don't see / hear of anyone in Connacht who'd be in a position to fill the void at present for next season anyway.

Hopefully we're scouting around for a good backup on a development contract or something.

Maybe wrong place for this, but I just Renewed my season ticket(trumpets in the background) in the Clan Terrace and I am hoping the Standing 861 has no real significance?? does any know ...I tried looking at the apparent Ground layout but sure it just gives the terraces no such thing as further sectioning, so not sure if it just means nothing..anyone else know?
