Im bring my girlfriend to her first game friday. She is going to be coming from cork so hope buses will be on time. We also agreed she would be in galway for all matches so we have another new supporter. Hope now she will get into the clan

I brought mine to her first game two seasons ago, Connacht v Cardiff. She enjoyed it so much she made me stay in Galway for an extra week so we could take in a second match.

Well I was at work today, and one of the lads asked me 'How was the Match Last Saturday?' I said It was great, great result , big crowd and the sportsground is looking well......My work colleague 'I will go with you to the Newport game!!!'.....5 mins later another lad asked me the same thing and said the same thing....These are 2 guys who have never been to the Sportsground before and they are not going to see Leinster, Toulouse or Munster...they are going to see the Dragons....How good is that eh????

It's like sausages, you have to know how to sell the sizzle.  8)

Great figures. Huge step forward in terms of generating a strong core support. The key really is to get the vast majority of the st holders into the games against the Welsh, Scots and Italians. The two free tickets for one of these games is a great idea. Perhaps Dragons might be the ideal game to bring a couple of newcomers along with your two free tickets. If we could get 3500-4000 for that game it'd be massive, triple our attendance for that game on the first day of the season last year.

The other games should take care of themselves pretty much.

But seriously, your average fan won't care about Aironi, Dragons, Glasgow any more than an Aironi, Dragons or Glasgow fan cares about us. It has to be all about Connacht. Fans should want to go see their team, regardless of the opposition, that's what needs to be the focus.

People generally aren't all that interested in the non-Interpros, but it's all about how you sell the idea.

Sometime Fan: "'sup bleed, what you doing the weekend"
You: "Off to the sportsground, we're playing Dragons, you fancy coming?"
Sometime Fan: "That's a joke right? Dragons? Who gives a f..."

OR

Sometime Fan: "'sup bleed, what you doing the weekend"
You: "Are you kidding? Haven't you heard? We're only one point behind Ulster and need a win tonight to keep the pressure on them. We've just won four on the bounce and the team is playing like their lives depend on it. You should see them, they're incredible at the moment"
Sometime Fan: "Cool, I'll get my coat"
You: "No need, here's a nice Connacht Clan hoodie. That's twent... that's thirty euro you owe me"

Maybe focusing marketing/events/free transport more around the non inter-pro games and the Heineken Cup matches will help? The Big games will look more or less after themselves in terms of publicity and interest...

Yep good point SP. Even just the offer of something free will remind people of the game and get the question of "are you going?" thrown around a little.

I was delighted when I heard we had reached 2000!

3000 is excellent and everyone concerned deserves a lot of praise. Well done :-)

Yeah, I understand that.  I realize not EVERYone can make EVERY game because of schedule conflicts with work, etc.  The ones I'm talking about are the ones who bought a season ticket just for the inter-pro games and the Heineken Cup matches.  We've got to help them see that the other games have value as well.
