Hadn't seen this thred before.

It is sad that we're not getting the coverage to match the other provences yet, but unfortunately the media will spend more time on matters that appeal to the majority of their listeners.

I only spotted a few weeks back, that on the RTÉ website, they had a link for Heineken Cup Rugby, and when you clicked it, it only had links for Leinster, Munster and Ulster.
Fair play to them though. I emailed them at about 2 in the day, and they got back to me before 4, telling me that they had updated the website, and that the exclusion of Connacht from the page was not acceptable, and they were very apologetic

@ConnachtCows - Always looking for new followers :)

Surely it would be the Club Managers/ Ch-EX job to ensure that Connacht are kept in the media spotlight even if it is with constant updates and pestering phonecalls and e-mails.
Mind you we're kept in the dark as Connacht supporters. The official website doesn't get updated for ages !!!!

Gerry Kelly, Eric Elwood and the rest of the Connacht lads can do as many interviews as they like but they are at the mercy of editors/producers for space/air time.

We are getting more coverage than ever in print and on TV in the last year or two that's for sure. I wouldn't say it's  a level playing field yet though...

As a group and individuals you need to tackle the individual media sources themselves, send them a letter or email. Tell them that you won't be buying the publication and recommending to friends colleagues to do the same until there is a balance in the coverage. The bottom line is that they pander to the larger audiences that articles for Leinster & Munster target...

Is it something the fans can look after or does the nudge have to come from the Connacht branch?

I agree with Charco to an extent.  I was just listening to a sports update on Newstalk, and there was a small mention of a storyline relating to the games for Munster, Leinster, and Ulster...but nothing at all on Connacht.  How is that possible?  I do agree that with more winning comes greater relevance, but to not even get a token mention?  Come on.

I know the team gets mentioned when they are winning but just for example, joe.ie the past few weeks have done mini-previews on the other three Irish teams but havent mentioned Connacht. And O'Connor writes for them now and again!

There was plenty of interest when we were in the Amlin semi. Bottom line is win your matches.

I'd like to help with that, but I can't tackle  :D

I dont know about other people but I really bugs me when Connacht are left out of the news reports on the various media outlets. A lot of the weekly updates seem to forget about the fourth province. Is there any way to get the news people to at least start mentioning Connacht? Is it up to the fans to let them know about how games went or what is the story?
