And not to harp on old subjects: but we had a full blown injury crisis in the early part of the season. If you look at the fact that we have maybe a slightly easier last nine (kings, scarlets, zebre, glasgow, Treviso, ulster, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Munster) than first 9 (Scarlets, Treviso, Dragons, Cheetahs, Ospreys, Leinster, Montpellier, Toulouse, Kings) I can see us making up some ground.

Playoffs are still within grasp I think, only 7 between us and Scarlets. Going to be a big head to head there, but we would also need to make sure that we can take our points where we should (the home games, kings, zebre, maybe Treviso?). Scarlets still have Leinster to play, Munster to play twice, as well as a challenge cup match. Till be tight.

On the night that was in it we were never going to beat Edinburgh. In those conditions we weren't able to live with a physically bigger team who won the set piece and tight battle comfortably.
In Mata and Schoeman they had 2 ball carriers we couldn't live with, and in the conditions that made a huge difference.
Wing is an issue for us, I'm not sure if Niyi is injured but he really wasn't at the races. There's a lot of strapping on that leg so he could well be.

This game won't define our season but it does go to highlight just how far off being amongst the leaders we are. Edinburgh will be fighting at the pointy end of the season and we won't. That's not a slight on our players or staff, who are all doing their best, but realistically we don't have the tools to be at the top of this league and it's hard to see that changing without investment in a handful of quality players. I think we're in a dog fight for fourth in the conference with Cardiff.
Here's hoping.

Finlays didn't look good - but pic up on twitter of him in a boot. Bad sprain or break? Poor man, he's had awful luck with injuries.

That was not a fantastic performance from us - coming after last weeks performance it was v hard to take. Weather looked terrible, but I don't think that was a deciding factor. Ditto the reffing: cannot fathom the first try/yellow card situation. That said, we were offside in the lead up to our try, so it probably didn't effect the scoreline much.

Roll on Kings!

Edinburgh (v Connacht at BT Murrayfield, Friday 7.35pm): D Hoyland, E Sau, M Bennett, M Scott, D van der Merwe; S Hickey, N Groom; P Schoeman, M Willemse, S Berghan, S South, L Carmichael, N Haining, L Crosbie, V Mata. Substitutes: C Fenton, M McCallum, D Winning, J Hodgson, J Barclay, C Shiel, J van der Walt, G Taylor.

Connacht: T O’Halloran, N Adeolokun, K Godwin, P Robb, J Porch; J Carty, K Marmion; D Buckley, S Delahunt, F Bealham, N Murray, J Maksymiw, P Boyle, C Fainga’a, J Butler (captain). Substitutes: J Murphy, P McAllister, D Robertson-McCoy, E Masterson, E McKeon, C Blade, C Fitzgerald, T Daly.

Strong looking Edinburgh team all around. Need to cut the ball out before it hit van der Merwe as he is lethal.
Tough task but we've got a chance.

Finally a well-ponderated and realistic view.
Any kind of BP (LBP or TBP) would be nice

Looking forward to this - would love to be heading over. Seems to be a fine team going - maybe a bit light in the second row.
