To be disallowed a try when the defender is being held, but he's making zero effort to stop the try scorer. That was a case of how rugby is going very soft
Dillane stepped away from the ruck and grabbed the shirt of a defender who was not in the ruck. That's a straight penalty regardless of whether Marmion breaks, passes or kicks.
As to the defender not making any effort to tackle Marmion, he was pushing/slapping Dillane away so it didn't look like he even saw him. Again, doesn't change that this was a penalty.
Finally, the Dragons player Dillane grabbed wouldn't have gotten within a timezone of Marmion, which just emphasises how dumb the offence was.

For KM disallowed try, Dillane was holding a defender and try disallowed the try.
By the law, ref was right, Dillane was wrong (stupid).
What annoyed me tho is that the defender didn't make any attempt to move and tackle KM.

Yet, Dragons should have scored a few tries in the opening 15mins. We dominated, but they cut us open a few times and should have scored except for some very sloppy passes.
Maybe it was down to there being so many players having not played together, Horowitz, Leader, deButlier, Goodwin would not have played as a unit. I hope that was the cause.

Dragons honestly were terrible. Their season is already dead and buried will probably get lowest points in the league.
South African games are huge. Need two wins to set us up for the interpos. Hopefully get a few bodies back before then.

Sort of day you wouldn't mind an operator like Tovey at 10
Edit: dragons kicking a lot in the warm-up, think our back 3 could be busy

I noticed it too, and got the same impression. In general I thought he gave an excellent interview. How often do you hear a head coach admitting to the possibility of his team being complacent? I'm hopeful for a backlash from our lads tomorrow.sligsup wrote:

Haven't noticed anything new there myself recently, is this just a difference between southern and northern hemisphere reffing?
Did you hear friend speaking in the interview about individuals pre match prep not where it should be.... seemed to be giving a dig at certain individuals thought it was a strange comment or maybe I interpreted it incorrectly.
Hadn't noticed that part to be honest. Was it just a throwaway comment or did he go into any more detail?
To me and this is totally personal ...it definitely was not throwaway and was intentionally placed while answering the question ... again it is totally down to ones interpretation, none of the craggy crew flagged it either on the podcast.
