Just saw some tweets from @ercrugby from the launch of the Heineken Cup in Dublin this morning, Gav is sporting a grey kit with the black and green design on the left side. New HC kit announcement looks likely! Not sure if that's all though given that its in the G...

They removed the traps for the long (700m) race format last month due to lack of use, and a grand total of 2 owners protested outside the entrance, so I think it's pretty clear the track is dying. But they're upgrading the main traps, so equally clearly said death will be a more protracted affair than rugby-lovers would hope.

It'll be interesting to see what happens when the main stand is due for refurbishment in the next few years, especially if the government keep hold of the tax money..

With our troubles at scrum half I've been secretly hoping Stringer would come to Connacht on some kind of loan, but he seems to be getting time at Munster ATM so I guess that's not the announcement.

I'd be very surprised if that was it. Very happy but very surprised! New sponsorship deal of some shape or form most likely.

I really hope its not about a new bloody jersey anyway or any of that kind of nonsense given all the fiasco there has been for years on end about when and where jerseys are available for purchase.

Its a bit early for signings/contracts so hopefully another sponsorship deal which can help boost the coffers to re-sign our best players and look to improve the squad.

There was a brief mention in Bendan Fanning's Sindo article that, having Leinster and Ulster already, BOI may look to replace Toyota at Munster, who won't be renewing their deal, and that since Mazda were in situ in Connacht they were in negotiations for "a more minor role".

So it could be something as yawn-inducing as some preferential rates for the Branch from our new under-sponsors. Could turn out to be very important if we ever get to build the second tier of the clan, but if this is all they announce on Wednesday I imagine there'll be a lot of very disappointed heads around here.

Of course maybe we'll announce we've halped Quade Cooper escape from Robbie Deans...
