im not sure what will happen after, my guess is if they prove themself there will be a place for them.
Yep, remember Bealham was Sub Academy last season, but pretty sure he has had a couple of seasons with Ulster (again Pre-academy) and the Brumbies in his native Oz before he came to us. Getting him in on Year 1 for us is good business costs wise, he's still only a Pup in prop terms but he's a couple of years ahead of a first year academy player in terms of experience...
We could very well have a couple of gems at sub-academy this season too, from various AIL sides around the country...
Hope you're both right.. but I'm still worried about experiened prop situation... 3 or 4 20 years old props can't be enough in pro level.. look at french or welsh clubs, most of them aree at least 25

Finlay Bealham, Jamie Dever, Jonathan Gardiner, Ultan Dilane and Robbie Henshaw have all joined year one of the academy which has produced a string of talent in recent years.
Loose-head prop Finlay was part of the sub academy last year. He played a number of ‘A’ matches for the province last season and made the bench for the Connacht v Munster match. Hailing from Canberra, Australia with an Irish father, Finlay played for Ireland U20 in the 2010/11 season.
Jamie Dever is a tight-head prop from Westport, Co. Mayo. Educated in Rice College, he has represented Ireland at U18 and U19 level.
2nd-row/back-row Jonathan Gardiner is from Carmarten in Wales where he was contracted to the Llanelli Scarlets Academy before moving the Leciester Tigers Academy. With Wexford and Cork parents and at 6’5 and 110kg, Jonathan is a powerful, athletic forward with a very bright future ahead of him.
Tralee RFC’s Ultan Dilane has played for Ireland U18 and U19. At 6’6 the towering second row has already made a big impact at training.
Versatile back Robbie Henshaw has been a star player for Buccaneers RFC. Schooled in Marist College, Athlone he has represented Ireland at U18 and U19 level.
The Connacht Academy has flourished under the direction of Nigel Carolan, producing stars such as Eoin Griffin, Ronan Loughney and Tiernan O’Halloran in recent years and this year’s crop of players look set to continue that trend. Speaking about this year’s academy Nigel said: “I’m very excited about the season ahead. The British & Irish Cup will provide some great challenges for a lot of the academy lads who will be playing with the Connacht Eagles. We have some exceptional talent coming through the ranks and it’s up to us to help nurture and develop those players so they can make the most of the challenges that await them.”

Not necessarily one made by Connacht though, got to remember that the Academy lads are kids, and after a year or two they might decide that the travails of a professional sportsman aren't for them at all...

Boland is no longer with the academy
Reilly must be a mistake omission
Anyone know why Boland is gone? I thought he was regarded quite highly. Whose Reily? Can anyone twitter O'Meara and ask him if he made it?
Thats all my demands

Happy enough with that would like to see another prop to cover both sides but happy enough with most other areas.
I presume this means the other fella McCauley isn't being kept in the academy.
Dissapointed to see Bolland gone, thought he might make more of an impression.
Also good to see Mick Kearney has been upgraded to the senior squad, he deserved it for his efforts last season.

connachtexile wrote: Whose Matt Healy? Does anyone know anything about him? Also Callum Boland isn't mentioned in the academy list either. Seems strange.
Matt Healy is this guy:
He was already discussed on here I think.
Callum Boland is a strange omission,

rossie wrote: Well documented already here but 5 senior props is light and no mention of o reilly anywhere. Is that an ommision in error?
Hopefully we sign one before start of season as porterbelly previously indicated. B+i will be disaster without it.
You took the words right out of my mouth. And what about O'Meara?
